New family book tells story of pirate Santa, his team of beluga white whales
Pirate Night Before Christmas by Mayor Gonzo Mays puts a new twist on the classic Night Before Christmas tale
KEY WEST, Fla. – Pirate Night Before Christmas by Mayor Gonzo Mays is a rhyming, book-length poem for all ages, written in authentic pirate vernacular.
Told through the eyes of the captain of the buccaneer ship Black Grouse, Mays’ Pirate Night Before Christmas has aimed to jump-start new read-aloud holiday family traditions since 2007. Targeted at adults as well as children, Pirate Night Before Christmas tells the story of the unbridled magic of an endangered team of fantastic beluga white whales and a sea Santa known as Old White Beard. As they ride over the seven seas making merry all the way, the book also teaches about the plight of the last 300 critically endangered beluga white whales of the Alaskan Cook Inlet.
Aiming to be as educational as it is entertaining Pirate Night Before Christmas is meant to be passed down through the generations.
